BOOK
Corr Syl
Book Synopsis
The adventure takes place on an Earth on which intelligence evolved long before humans appeared. When conflict flares between humans and the ancient multi-species Tsaeb civilization, the Tsaeb send a young warrior named Corr Syl to investigate and recommend a response.
To this point in his life, Corr Syl’s only responsibility has been to obey his parents and his warrior trainer. But now he is becoming interested in the beautiful but aloof Rhya Bright, and he is getting assignments form his local district council. When he begins to investigate the human conflict, he learns that spies have infiltrated his district, and he realizes that many lives are in danger. He catches a glimpse of something truly evil, and with no time to spare, recommends a plan that will end the immediate dangers, but that might start a war.
The district council sends Rhya Bright with Corr. Corr and Rhya work together on the plan and become very close. When the Tsaeb apply the plan, they trigger a simmering hatred that unleashes a massive global strike against the Tsaeb.

Now to meet the amazingly talented author, Christine Pope:
Her Bio:
A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Two of her short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
Her first published novel was Fringe Benefits, a contemporary romance released by Pink Petal Books in April 2010. Next up was a paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, which was published in August 2010. In December 2010, Sympathy for the Devil, a paranormal romance novel, was released.
In 2011, Ms. Pope decided to strike out on her own as a self-published author, giving herself more freedom to explore a variety of genres. Her first self-published work, Breath of Life (June 2011), is a novella that takes the classic Beauty and the Beast story and sets it in a far-future Gaian (Earth) colony where the “beauty” is a colonist’s daughter and the “beast” her family’s alien neighbor. That book was quickly followed by Bad Vibrations (July 2011), a fast-paced but lighthearted paranormal romantic suspense novel with alien conspiracies, government cover-ups, and a hunky ufologist hero.
Releases for 2012 included No Return, a contemporary retelling of the Phantom of the Opera story; Heart of Gold, a steampunk adventure romance; Blood Will Tell, a space opera/science fiction romance set in the same universe as Breath of Life; All Fall Down, the first of the Tales of the Latter Kingdoms series; and Dragon Rose, the second book in the Latter Kingdom series. Her release schedule for 2013 is just as full, with a follow-up to Bad Vibrations in January and the final book of the trilogy in July, Binding Spell (Book 3 in the Latter Kingdoms series) in March, and then the third book in the Gaian Consortium series (The Gaia Gambit) and the fourth in the Latter Kingdoms series (Ashes of Roses) due out in the second half of the year.
Christine Pope writes as the mood takes her, and her work encompasses paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection. After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor and graphic designer in addition to writing fiction. She fell in love with Sedona, Arizona, while researching the Sedona Trilogy and now makes her home there, surrounded by the red rocks. No alien sightings, though…not yet, anyway!
I want to welcome Christine to this book blog, and say what a wonderful book you have written, well done.
Didn’t win a prize? That’s fine, you can still read the book. You can buy it in stores.
Thanks Christine.

Confessions of a Shopaholic – Sophie Kinsella

Rating:★★★★
Three words: Witty, hilarious and funny.
Age recommendation: Over 13. Unless mature. I think this book is for any age but not below 13.

Synopsis
Meet Rebecca Bloomwood.

She’s a journalist. She spends her working life telling others how to manage their money.
She spends her leisure time … shopping.

Retail therapy is the answer to all her problems. She knows she should stop, but she can’t. She tries Cutting Back, she tries Making More Money. But neither seems to work. The stories she concocts become more and more fantastic as she tries to untangle her increasingly dire financial difficulties. Her only comfort is to buy herself something – just a little something…

Can Becky ever escape from this dream world, find true love, and regain the use of her Switch card?

My review:
Ok. Don’t panic. Let’s get started. I took the ride of this book, and now I’m like a little kid who doesn’t want to get off. This series is amazing. It’s funny, witty, hilarious and it really makes you *almost* cry at times.
I don’t know how else to say it, get the book and read it.
It’s that kind of book that you simply can’t put down, and the only bad thing about it is that it has to end somewhere.
Well, my advice… Just get the book and see for yourself what a nut Becky is.

. . .because some Celtic stories won’t be contained in myth.

A little magic has always run in sixteen-year-old McKayla McCleery’s family—at least that’s what she’s been told. McKayla’s eccentric Aunt Avril travels the world as a clairvoyant for the FBI, and her mother can make amazing delicacies out of the most basic of ingredients. But McKayla doesn’t think for a second that the magic is real—it’s just good storytelling. Besides, McKayla doesn’t need magic. She just moved to beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming, and already she has an amazing best friend, a solo in her upcoming ballet recital, and the gorgeous guy in her physics class keeps looking her way.

When an unexpected fascination with Irish dance leads McKayla to seek instruction from the mute, crippled, janitor at her high school, she learns that her family is not the only one with unexplained abilities.

After Aunt Avril comes to the valley in pursuit of the supernatural killer that she has been chasing her entire career, people in the valley begin disappearing, and the lives of those McKayla holds most dear are threatened. Mockingjay – Suzanne Collins

Rating: ★★★★
Three words: Exciting, sad, breath-taking.
Age Recommendation: 12/13 to 35. You can probably notice that the age recommendation keeps rising through the trilogy, that is because as the trilogy continues, the story line gets harder, and harder to pick out.

My review: Only 4 stars. Why? SPOILER AHEAD. SKIP TO NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK! Because there is no actual hunger games in Mockingjay, the action level is low, therefore brings my star rating down. I love the part where Katniss defies even the rebels, and shoots Coin.
Books never make me cry, but Suzanne Collins has just broken a record. Her swift writing triggered my tears. Well done Suzanne.
